About Us
The HERD is open to anyone, anywhere, but our focus is primarily the "Tri-State" area. We are a group of folks from all walks of life that have at least one common interest... The late model Chevy Impala SS. From its early beginnings, The HERD has grown into a very active organization of Impala SS enthusiasts. We host a very useful and informative web page as you are seeing now, we have a regular newsletter called SStampede that features articles about performance, maintenance and other Impala related stories.
We attend many local and not so local car shows, hang out at various cruise nights & drive-ins, race at 1/4 mile drag strips and have somewhat regular meetings to share ideas, experiences and stories. Check out the events section of The HERD page for updated information about upcoming gatherings.
With the expansion of The HERD it has become necessary to request a dues contribution. These dues are used to support the publishing and mailing of the newsletter and to defray some of the expenses of our popular Internet web page. In appreciation of your support, you will also be sent a special HERD nametag & holder and an exclusive "red bow-tie" hatpin to show off your great taste in cars!
We hope to arrange special discounts from local and national vendors that provide quality Impala related parts. At many gatherings we will even have some basic Impala parts available such as the famous "red bow-tie" for the front grill. We also have club T-shirt's for sale.
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact us.
Our history
The HERD is a local car club primarily for those in Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin and Northwestern Indiana. When I say club, I mean a grass roots organization for the advancement of the interest in the last big V-8 RWD cars to roll off the lines at GM. It is not a business, but a hobby.
